Using UK health information online
Health information online can be extremely useful — but it can also be confusing or misleading if you land on the wrong site. This page explains how to get the most out of trusted UK health sites.
Start with NHS 111
If you have a symptom now, the fastest way to find out what to do is 111.nhs.uk. It asks about your symptoms and tells you where to go — a pharmacist, a GP, urgent care, or A&E.
Then read general information at NHS.uk
NHS.uk conditions A–Z is the authoritative source of patient-facing health information in the UK. Search by condition name.
Check who wrote the page
Good health information tells you who wrote it, when it was last reviewed, and what it is based on. Look for these on any health page you read.
