For a medical emergency call 999. For urgent but non-emergency medical help call NHS 111.

Symptom checkers

The NHS symptom checker is available online at 111.nhs.uk or by calling 111. It asks you a series of questions about your symptoms and tells you what to do next — for example see a pharmacist, book with a GP, or go to A&E. Both routes are free and available 24 hours a day.
